Philippe quickly joined his father after a few years of studies at the Lycée Viticole d'Avize and also set out to clear new vineyard land on the steep hillsides of Fleury-la-Rivière. At the same time, he continues to take care of agricultural land in cereal production.
In 1992, Fabienne and Philippe together founded their own estate with family assets but also with the purchase of several pieces of vines.
It is the choice par excellence of Isabelle Arpin, this champagne lover, who befriended the Gamet family, has chosen to offer this vintage by the glass in her restaurant.
They created their own Champagne Philippe Gamet brand, developed the exploitation both on the surface and in the number of bottles drawn. They seek to improve their production tools, their ways of working and to perfect or modernize their different vintages. Cultivation methods evolving with the planet, the Gamet house is constantly changing. The transition to high environmental value viticulture will open doors ... to Jean-François and Marianne, the future generation of Gamet!
Mardeuil is located in the Marne Valley, very close to Epernay, the capital of Champagne.
Our vines are planted in three villages: Mardeuil, Damery and Fleury-la-Rivière mainly in Pinot Meunier (55%) and Pinot Noir (35%), some vines in Chardonnay (10% of our vineyard).
The soils are worked mechanically and we limit the treatments. The majority of our vines are grassed. The harvest is manual and the average age of our vines is 30 years.
Beautiful grapes will give us good champagnes!
